Week 9 Update 2022

This week 4 of our rookie teams participated in the Roseville League Competition. The teams had a great time. Their performance was decent, but it was a very good learning experience. This should help them better for future competitions. This also gave them an understanding of how competitive other teams are. Below are the few key learnings
1) Spend some time on building and driving. Taking the robot may give them more time.
2) Utilize the time effectively when at school. Focus on the task. and not be distracted.
3) Our teams are going with build first attitude. This is causing them to rip apart the robot multiple times and start from scratch. They need to first think/discuss with the team. Think about other alternatives, problems their solution may cause. Will discuss the engineering concepts in the class again.
4) Start working on Programming Skills
5) Spend more time on Digital Engineering Notebook.
This week 1 of our advanced team competed in Davis. They are placed in 2nd place. And They have also won the teamwork challenge. Congratulations to the team!!
The Davis competition is very competitive, and the robots are incredibly complex. Some of the videos from this competition will be posted in a couple of weeks.
Saturday Class Schedule:
We are changing the plans for Saturday programs. Going forward
All the V5 teams will be meeting on Saturdays in Folsom Middle School
This enables the teams to do scrimmages against other V5 teams.
November 19th: (Saturday)
Folsom Middle School : 8:30am to 12:30noon
Marina Village Middle School: 1pm to 5pm
December 10th: (Saturday)
Folsom Middle School : 8:30am to 12:30noon
Marina Village Middle School: 1pm to 5pm
Christmas Break/Thanksgiving Break
Currently there is no schedule for Christmas break and Thanksgiving break. We recommend the teams to meet at their home to continue to build when possible.
