Dear Falkon Academy Parents and Guardians,

We hope you’re doing well. We’re eager to share some updates from our robotics programs, which have kicked off with a wonderful sense of enthusiasm and dedication.

1) Progress from Our Competitive Teams: Our competitive teams are making significant strides in their preparations. Here’s what they’ve been up to:

  • VEX IQ Teams: These students have already built their Claw Bots and are actively practicing on the field. Their commitment is truly commendable.
  • VEX V5 Teams: Our VEX V5 teams are experimenting with different robot designs to tackle upcoming challenges. One team is exploring tank tread wheels, while another is testing an Omni wheel design with a Flex wheel in the middle. We’ve ordered various parts to support their efforts.

2) VEX IQ Recreational Program: Our students in the VEX IQ Recreational Program are diving into the basics of robotics components. Their achievements so far include:

  • Gear Train Exploration: Some teams are delving into gear trains, exploring the balance between speed and torque.
  • Engineering Design Challenges: Others are tackling engineering design challenges, building pulley and pendulum systems to maximize the distance a car can travel. Their creativity shines brightly.

3) Save the Dates – Competition Schedule: We’re excited to share the competition dates for our competitive teams:

  • VEX IQ Competition Date (Middle School Team): Davis, CA – November 5, 2023
  • VEX V5 Competition Date (Middle School Team): Roseville, CA – November 5, 2023
  • VEX V5 Competition Date (High School Team): Roseville, CA – November 4, 2023

These events are excellent opportunities to support our teams and witness their hard work pay off.

4) Upcoming Competitions: As usual, we’re planning to host our own robotics competitions. We’ll share the schedule for these events in the coming weeks. It’s a wonderful platform for our students to showcase their skills.
